SEVTC’s Fiscal Department contains several components. Each is customer service driven, whether those customers are our residents/ families or fellow staff. Those components are:

• Payroll -  As with most organizations, our largest cost is our payroll. Our payroll staff of two makes sure that the employee’s check is correct each pay period in the following areas:
      Pay (base pay, overtime, recognition)
      Deductions (taxes, health care, garnishments)
      Leave (annual, sick, compensatory) Benefit 1

• Patient Fund Account (PFA) - PFA is the money that belongs to our residents. It is in a separate account from state funds and accrues interest for each resident. When a resident has a need and has the money in his account, his direct service staff requests the money and the item is purchased. These funds can also be used for fun trips to Busch Gardens or other local “hot spots” as well as for medical needs such as eyeglasses, prostheses, special adaptive equipment.
   

• Accounts Payable – These are the dreaded “bills”. Just like in your home, we need to pay for utilities, food, repairs, equipment, and so forth. Our Accounts Payable Clerk assures that bills are paid timely and correctly (as defined by the Department of Planning and Budget).

• Accounting – SEVTC has two accountants whose responsibilities include:

        Preparing financial statements
        Managing the Fixed assets inventory system
        Reconciling accounts
        Monitoring available cash daily
        Computer system security control
        Preparing Taxes for residents who must file.

• Workshop – This person manages all the resident’s pay for their work with Vocational Services and coordinates bills from firms where the residents work .
   

• Budgeting – SEVTC’s Assistant Administrator for Administrative Services (ADA) acts as our Fiscal Director and is responsible for managing the budget. This includes obtaining departments recommendations for their upcoming years budget, inputting the appropriate amounts into the on-line budget system in accordance with the Appropriation received from the General Assembly and running monthly expenditure reports to assure funds are being used appropriately. This position also makes recommendations to the Executive Staff on cost saving possibilities.
