BENEFITS

SEVTC offers benefits to its Full-time, classified employees.

Anthem BC/BS COVA Care - The Commonwealth provides a health insurance plan to all of its full time employees. Supplemental/Optional insurance plans to cover disability, cancer, sickness, and retirement planning have also been approved for payroll deduction.

CommonHealth - A wellness program to help employees develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Flexible Reimbursement Accounts - The Commonwealth provides a medical and dependent care reimbursement account plan, which allows employees to set aside “before-tax” dollars into separate accounts to be used for reimbursement of eligible out-of-pocket expenses. The money deposited to the reimbursement account is reduced from the employee’s pay prior to calculation of taxes. Again, the result is more spend-able income because the employee pays less taxes.

Deferred Compensation - Employees may elect to save pre-tax income as a supplement to retirement pay.

Employee Suggestion Program - The goal of the Employee Suggestion Program (ESP) is to stimulate, recognize, and reward State employees for their innovative ideas and creative problem-solving.

Virginia Retirement System (VRS) - Employees may retire at the age of 55 with full benefits after 30 years of service. Normal retirement benefits are based on years of service and the average of the 3 highest years of salary. To retire with benefits, the employee must have at least 5 years at age 55. There is no mandatory retirement age.

Virginia Sickness and Disability Program (VSDP) - The VSDP provides you with income security when you cannot work because of a partial or total disability. The program includes sick, family and personal leave; short-term disability benefits; long-term disability benefits and a long-term care program. VSDP benefits cover non-work-related and work-related conditions.
