Local Human Rights Committee (LHRC)

The Local Human Rights Committee is a volunteer committee that consists of five or more members appointed by the SHRC. Membership is a broad representative of professional and consumer interests.

The SEVTC Local Human Rights Committee is designed to perform several tasks. First, they receive complaints of alleged rights violations filed by or for individuals receiving services from SEVTC and hold hearings according to the procedures set forth in the RULES AND REGULATIONS TO ASSURE THE RIGHTS OF INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING SERVICES FROM PROVIDERS OF MENTAL HEALTH, MENTAL RETARDATION, AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICE. LHRC may review any existing or proposed policies, procedures, or practices that could jeopardize the rights of one or more individuals receiving services from the provider with which the LHRC is affiliated. As a committee they will also receive, review and comment on all restrictive behavioral treatment programs and seclusion and restraint policies for SEVTC. After this review, the LHRC shall make recommendations to the director concerning changes in these policies, procedures, and practices.
